C35E / 1.1181 Special Steel

C35E / 1.1181 Special Steel is a medium carbon, medium tensile steel supplied as-forged or normalized condition. This steel shows excellent forgeability, reasonable strength, toughness and wear resistance. C35E / 1.1181 Special Steel is easily welded with the correct procedure.Due to the carbon content preheating and postheating are required. It has good Machinability after full annealing.Wide range of mechanical properties can be attained by quenching and tempering,as quenched hardness should be approximately 45 HRC

C35E / 1.1181 Special Steel Forging

Forging temperature:950-1200℃,air cooling after forging.

C35E / 1.1181 Special Steel Annealing

Full annealing  is carried out from 840-890ºC, followed by furnace cooling at 28ºC per hour, to 650ºC soaking and air cooling.

C35E / 1.1181 Special Steel Normalizing

The normalizing temperature range for this grade is typically 860-900ºC,followed by cooling in still air.

C35E / 1.1181 Special Steel Hardening

Hardening of C35 steel is carried out from an austenitizing temperature of 830-860ºC,followed by oil or water quenching.

C35E / 1.1181 Special Steel Tempering

Tempering after normal hardening and oil or water quenching is carried out at 550-680ºC to give the required mechanical properties as determined by practical experience.

C35E / 1.1181 Special Steel Application

C35 steel is one of the most widely used for machinery parts, and used for forged parts where the strength and toughness of the material are appropriate. The following are the major applications of C35 carbon steel:

  • Levers
  • Bolts
  • Nuts
  • Studs
  • Gears
  • Forged shafts
  • Axles
