Thanks to its large amounts of Chromium and Nickel, you can expect it to have high levels of toughness and hardening properties.

You can find DIN 1.2714 as a 40 HRC standard grade that possesses uniform hardness plus good hardenability.

DIN 1.2714 Equivalent Steel

DIN is a European standard and is the abbreviation of Deutsches Institut für Normung, in English, it is the German Institute of Standardization.

Since the DIN 1.2714 is under this particular standard, there are other standards that have this particular steel. While they’re similar in terms of what elements are present, they’re different in terms of the content levels.

The equivalent steels for DIN 1.2714 are:

  • AFNOR 55 NCD V7
  • Euronorm 55 NiCrMo V7
  • DB6
  • AISI L6 Steel

Annealed state is extremely workable and efficient

Some of the most notable traits and specific characteristics of DIN 1.2714 steel include:

  • High hardness levels after hardening process
  • Good levels of tempering resistance
  • Resistant in sudden temperature changes
  • Thermal fatigue adaptability
  • Can be hardened in both oil (830 to 870 degrees Celsius) and air (870 to 900 degrees Celsius)
  • Workable even while its softly annealed

What is the 55NiCrMoV7 Steel?

This particular steel grade is similar to the DIN 1.2714, it’s just the new term for it because it follows the Euronorm format, not the DIN.

How is DIN 1.2714 Made and Manufactured?

Generally, alloyed steel is made through the mixture or the combination of plain carbon steel with alloying elements.

The creation and the manufacturing of DIN 1.2714 steel is like this, and employs the melting of carbon steel along with other alloying elements to form a better and a more specific material.

You can manufacture DIN 1.2714 through the melting all of the alloying elements mentioned above in either a casting operation or a furnace. It’s done in a closed and a controlled area to refrain from oxidation and contamination of the steel.
