3115 Steel is a low carbon case hardening steel which has at least 0.6Cr%,0.8%Ni as strengthening elements.It has a low-medium hardenability with good core resistance up to a thickness of about 50 mm,and had good machinability in the annealed condition.16NiCr4 is generally supplied in annealed condition with  Max hardness 217HB.

3115 Steel forging temperature:900 – 1150°C,cooled as slowly as possible in still air or in sand after forged.

3115 Steel Heat Treatment

• Normalizing:  870 – 890°C,Cooling in air
• Soft Annealing:680 – 720°C,Cooling in furnace
• Carburizing:880-980°C
• Core-hardening:850-890°C,oil-polymer salt bath
• Case-hardening:780-820°C,oil-polymer salt bath
• Carbonitriding:860-930°C/Gas
• Tempering:150-200°C
