1.5714 steel is a low carbon case hardening steel which has at least 0.6Cr%,0.8%Ni as strengthening elements.It has a low-medium hardenability with good core resistance up to a thickness of about 50 mm,and had good machinability in the annealed condition.1.5714 steel is generally supplied in annealed condition with Max hardness 217HB.

1.5714 steel forging temperature:900 – 1150°C,cooled as slowly as possible in still air or in sand after forged.
1.5714 Steel Heat Treatment
- Normalizing: 870 – 890°C,Cooling in air
- Soft Annealing:680 – 720°C,Cooling in furnace
- Carburizing:880-980°C
- Core-hardening:850-890°C,oil-polymer salt bath
- Case-hardening:780-820°C,oil-polymer salt bath
