41CrS4 / 1.7039 Steel Description

Special structural steel.

41CrS4 / 1.7039 Steel Applications

Low and moderately stressed parts for vehicles, engines and machines where hard, wear resisting surface is needed.

Hardness as surface hardened about 54 HRC.

41CrS4 / 1.7039 Steel Physical properties (average values) at ambient temperature

Modulus of elasticity [103 x N/mm2]: 210 Density [g/cm3]: 7.80

41CrS4 / 1.7039 Steel Soft Annealing

Heat to 680-720oC, cool slowly in furnace. This will produce a maximum Brinell hardness of 241.

41CrS4 / 1.7039 Steel Normalizing

Temperatue: 840-880oC.

41CrS4 / 1.7039 Steel Hardening

Harden from a temperature of 820-860oC followed by oil or water quenching.

41CrS4 / 1.7039 Steel Tempering

Tempering temperature: 540-680oC.
