SAE 1045 Steel Bar
SAE1045 steel bar is a medium carbon steel which is characterized by good weldability, good machinability, high strength and impact properties in either the normalized or hot forged condition. SAE1045 steel bar is widely used for axles, bolts, forged connecting rods, crankshafts, torsion bars, light gears, guide rods etc.

SAE 1045 Steel Bar Heat Treatment
Normalizing For SAE1045
1.Nominal normalizing temperature:850-870°C
2.Hold the temperature for several hours
3.Cooling in the air
Annealing For SAE1045
1.Nominal Annealing temperature:680-710°C
2.Cool slowly in the furance
3.Maximum Brinell hardness of 197
Hardening and Tempering(QT) For SAE1045
1.Nominal Hardening temperature:840-870°C
2.Hold at this temperature then quench in oil or water
3.Tempering as soon as possible when the temperature low to ambient
4.Heat uniformly to the suitable temperature of 600-640°C
5.keep the material out of the furnace ,then cool in the air
Mechanical Property( for reference only)
1.Tensile strength: 600MPa
2.Yield point: 360MPa
3.Percentage reduction of area after fracture: 40%
4.Elongation after fracture: 16%
5.Impact test (+20°C): Transverse – 14-25J; Longitud – 36~48J
